2014-06-28 In Which Alison Teaches Me Things

My friends Sara and Jason are in Des Moines. Sara is defeating the world in single-handed combat. Or rather eight-limbed combat.

So that made me discover an utterly amazing video of Jaco Pastorius playing “The Dry Cleaner From Des Moines” with Joni Mitchell and Don Alias and Michael Brecker. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JnpyCEUESEw. Only then I had to listen to it a million times in a row because it ends with a loud run by Jaco which finishes on a second, and I kept having to go back to the beginning to get the tonic (aaaaaaaah).

Only this morning Alison convinced me that ending on the second is actually deliberate. So now I can find peace.

Alison really is a musical genius. Not even exaggerating.
